As organic horticulture and lifestyles are all the rage, the ideas become increasingly mainstream. Living a truly lifestyle like this requires a dedicated steady supply of fresh herbs, fruits and veggies. Read up on some great organic tips below.

TIP! A good way to ensure that your seeds sprout effectively is to start them in smaller pots and then transplant them once they reach the seedling stage. They are then more likely to survive and to become thriving, mature plants.

Try using annuals and biennials to add color to your flower beds, and brighten them up. These flowers grow quickly and can be planted at any time during the year. If you want to maintain a flower garden all year or you want to add new flowers to reflect the changing seasons, annuals and biennials are for you. They can make a handy, gap-filler between shrubs and perennials located in sunny areas. There are plenty of varieties including petunia, marigold, cosmos, sunflower, hollyhock, and rudbeckia.

Plants need CO2 grow well. More CO2 generally produces more luxurious plant growth. A greenhouse will provide the best method of providing enough CO2 for your plants. To achieve optimal growing conditions, keep the levels of carbon dioxide high in your plants’ environment.

TIP! Bring some plants into your home to protect them against winter weather. Your best bet would be try to save the best or most hearty plants.

Remember to remove weeds from the garden. Unwanted weeds fight for the same nutrients that more desirable plants do, and they also are unsightly. To help with weed destruction, use white vinegar. White vinegar will kill those pesky weeds. Mix white vinegar and water into a spray bottle instead of pulling the weeds by hand.

If you want flowers in spring and summer, plant bulbs in the garden. Bulbs are generally very simple to grow and hearty, as well; they will continue to grow for years. You can select bulbs that bloom at many different times, so with a little work, you could have flowers popping up all the way from the start of spring to the end of summer.

Plant Fall Vegetables

When it’s autumn, you know what that means. It’s time to plant fall vegetables! Try using a pumpkin as a natural plant pot. You can plant fall vegetables such as lettuce in an empty pumpkin shell. You simply need to cut off the top, scoop out the guts, and spray your pumpkin with Wilt-Pruf. Once this is done, you are ready to plant!

TIP! For weeds that aren’t in the middle of your plants, use boiling water to kill their roots. One of the safest “herbicides” you can find is a pot of boiling water.

Protect your deciduous shrubs which are tender. Shrubs that are planted in containers are especially susceptible to frost and must be carefully protected. Tie the tops together, and loosely cover the wigwam with a blanket or sheet. This method is much better than wrapping the plant in plastic, as it allows air to circulate, which can prevent rotting.

Pick one plant to serve as your garden’s focal point. A solid focal point will draw peoples attention to your garden, leaving them to admire your unique design. Quite often a distinctive plant works well as a point of interest.

TIP! Try to ensure your plants are dry and have enough air, daily! If your plants are moist, this can attract disease and parasites. Fungi commonly afflict a number of plants.

You can create a great English garden by mixing types and sizes in one bed. If you use plants that are all the same size your garden will look flat.

Use these tips and think about some ideas of your own. Organic gardening can become a part of your life. Keep in mind that the tips in this article are only intended as a starting point.
